SupArpupa

The SupArpupa, originally SupArpuppan with it’s Swedish writing was born sometime in the early 1990´s. Originator Carl Anderberg was searching for a worthy successor to Lennart Bergqvist´s Superpuppan, something more versatile, a fly that could almost “fish itself”. Inspiration came partly also from an English reservoir pattern called the Green Nymph but also through Carl´s experience and ideas. The goal was clear: a caddis pupa imitation that was simple to tie, floated without stiff dry fly hackle, and could float by its own, like Kenneth Boström’s Rackelhanne.

The SupArpuppan isn’t just a caddis pupa imitation. It’s an allround fly that works anywhere, anytime, in fast or still water, when everything or nothing happens.

Fish the fly upstream free drifting over hotspots or above rising fish. To enhance the mimic of a swimming pupa you can also now and then with your rod tip to make the fly more a little. A must have fly late summer nights when the caddis emerges.
