The name doesn’t lie in this case. Super Pupa is our first choice pattern for trout and grayling, if there is the slightest chance of a caddis pupa hatch. The hackle has been cut to balance and float the fly, but fishes effectively even after losing its best floatation. Although classified as a dry fly, it’s good to note that Super Pupa isn’t even intended to float above the surface film, but right under – trying to find it’s way up like a hatching caddis pupa.
