The name doesn’t lie in this case. Super Pupa is our first choice pattern for trout and grayling, if there is the slightest chance of a caddis pupa hatch. Or even when there isn’t… The hackle has been cut to balance and float the fly, but fishes effectively even after losing its best floatation. Although classified as a dry fly, it’s good to note that Super Pupa isn’t even intended to float above the surface film, but right under – trying to find it’s way up like a hatching caddis pupa.
