Every Nordic sea trout angler probably has a Kobberbassen in their fly box. Although not nearly as impressive as many beautifully articulate shrimp flies, the “copper bug” still outfishes them in most scenarios. Kobberbassen can be used to imitate a gammarus, but its effectiveness really comes from resemblance to anything edible – which makes it a killer sea trout fly in all conditions. Copper is the classic color, but do give the browns a shot in darker conditions. The olive also works nicely against weed bottoms. All colors come tied with a slightly weighted body.
