Frances (or Francis) has to be the confidence fly of every Icelandic angler. We usually fish with a black or red Frances, almost always dead drifting or “nymphing” it upstream with a long leader. When a small, heavy Frances speeds in front of a salmon, the fish needs to react lighting fast. Often with the desired outcome.
