Ponyi is one of the most lucrative and catch-safe salmon in the world – if not the safest. The water in the river is dark and humus-rich, with the colors of the butterflies following a clear line: the shades of orange and yellow are the standard arsenal for a Pono visitor. When fishing in summer water, fly sizes vary and depending on the water situation, fairly small bifurcations may be used. However, mainly Ponons are fished with tubes. In summer water (July-August), it is also advisable to book a pair of surface flies and a weld, as the conditions are the best that a salmon fly fisherman can experience.
Our Ponoi range covers all weather and water conditions on this salmon-eldorado river in the Eastern Kola Peninsula!
